Today, no one would consider designing a paint booth without considering the control of the psychrometric parameters inside. Relative humidity (RH) levels of up to 65-75% are often used for water-based paints to avoid aerosol evaporation, pigment agglomeration and premature drying, and to achieve consistent deposition rates. Individual manufacturers recommend the ideal conditions under which their paint should be applied, in their product sheets. This will reduce consumption and make application more efficient. However, they all agree that in order to obtain quality finishes, we must consider and control the humidity of the booth.

Evaporative humidifier: Principle of operation

Evaporative humidifiers are designed to increase the water vapour content of treated air by natural evaporation of water. The air flow to be treated passes through a wet cell panel in a water irrigation system. This panel consists of wavy sheets of inorganic paper, with stiffening additives  and water absorbers. The cross-channel configuration of the  panel offers a large air-water contact surface, allowing maximum evaporation, while the resistance to air passing through it (load loss) is minimal.
